This week, I was so proud of my son and his football team. In honor of breast cancer awareness, the boys on both teams wore pink. (My son is number 5 and he is on the Bruins.) It was such an important lesson to teach our young sons about this disease that impacts so many women. Beyond my son’s football team, I would like to commend the NFL on their participation in Breast Cancer Awareness month by wearing pink. By doing so, they have stimulated younger football players to follow suit. My son’s team, the Culver City Bruins which consists of 9 and 10 year olds, along with many other teams in his league, have followed the NFL players by wearing symbols of awareness. The boys are wearing pink socks, pink gloves, pink wrist bands, and pink chin guards in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. Please be reminded when you see the pink to encourage a woman you know to get a screening mammogram and hopefully cancer will be detected early and survival enhanced. Cancer detected in the early stages has a 90% 5 year survival rate.
Here are some photos of my son’s team sporting pink.
